Septic questions

I am trying to figure out the lay/structure of my septic system, so we can plan landscaping. I have contacted my county, and they did not have any information, except that some repairs were performed in 2006. They recommended I contact the engineering company that did the repairs. Before I call or drive out to the engineers(no website) to see if they have anything beyond a basic repair record from 16 yrs ago, I thought I'd see if there was an easy way to determine this.

So far we have located a (the?) sewer cleanout pipe and the big green tank cover. The minimal info we have is that in 2006, the system was a septic pond that had failed and was repaired; and in 2020, a new septic tank was installed. I've never heard of a septic pond, but there IS a small pond some distance away. It is full of algae and frogs and smells like stagnant water. Is that the septic pond? There is a white pipe that runs into it from the top, but I thought that might be a rain drainage system because we are on a hillside.

There is also a small mound downhill from the septic tank, so we wondered if it was a mound septic system-but now thinking it's the pond.

If it's a pond system, does this mean there is no leach field?

Feeling like we've hit a wall, because the best we can do is know what it was in 2006. (The previous owners were flippers, and I don't think they have anything beyond the basics).
