New septic inspection dude and pumping dude disagree on septic maintenance needs
My old septic inspector company shuttered their business and I engaged a new guy to complete the inspection and interface with the county. New guy says my float switches are bad and need to be replaced, and that my tank needs pumping.
When the pumping guy came out he showed me that my floats are working fine (lifted them up, pump turns on, drop them down, pump turns off). Pumping guy has 30 years experience, inspector guy has much less.
I tried asking the inspector guy about it and he insists my float switches are broken in the "closed" position, meaning the pump is running too much. I looked, listened, tested again and I don't see a problem. Is there something I'm missing here? I understand how a float switch works in general, but am not super familiar with them in the septic context.
TIA for any info.
